THERAPEUTIC CUPPING

Clinical Massage Care offers Myofascial Cupping Therapy

Cupping Therapy is a centuries-old method of managing medical conditions, based on traditional Asian Medicine.

Recent research has concluded that many clinical conditions may benefit from cupping as part of a customized plan of care to improve functional outcomes with measurable results.

Our cupping therapy practitioners use a version of this method with silicone cups to release scar tissue and myofascial adhesions, manage trigger points, improve circulation, relieve pain, and promote functional mobility.

Your therapist may use one cup or several cups at a time during your session. In addition to a gliding technique, the cups may be used as a stationary or static placement. Stationary cups may be in place anywhere from 1 to 15 minutes. Stinging or discomfort may be felt superficially across the skin where the cup is placed or during gliding techniques while the tissue layers are stretching. This usually lasts from 10 to 90 seconds and then begins to dissipate, depending on how tight the tissue is.

Myofascial Cupping Therapy will likely leave a red to purple circular mark or streak on your skin (ecchymosis). This is typical and will differ with age, skin type, color, and level of toxicity.

Adverse side effects are extremely rare; your therapist will discuss any side effects that may occur from cupping therapy before your session Clinical Massage Care uses Cupping Safety and Sterilization Protocols in accordance with the CDC guidelines.
